Half our firm’s partners have appeared in the AFR’s 2010 Best Lawyers list. The survey lists Australia’s leading lawyers in private practice through an exhaustive process of more than 220,000 evaluations by their peers. Kate Haddock, Peter Banki and Peter Knight were listed in the Intellectual Property lawyers category and Peter Banki was also listed in the Entertainment lawyers category. Bruce Burke was listed in the Defamation and Media category. An article ‘The quest to protect creativity’ by AFR journalist Hannah Low featured our firm’s partners and particularly our work in protection of clients’ copyrights in new media.

Banki Haddock Fiora is a sponsor of the Walkley Awards for Excellence in Journalism - our award is for the category of best cartoon.
This year the winner was Peter Nicholson of The Australian, for his cartoon “Bashir and Bombing”. The panel's comment was "In the wake of the Jakarta bombings, Nicholson deftly skewered the morality of a spiritual teacher who has guided his young pupils towards suicide bombing".
