Dougal Phillips

Dougal joined Banki Haddock Fiora in 2013 and spent a number of years in copyright litigation in Los Angeles after being admitted to the New York Bar, before returning to Australia and the firm in 2022. He is an experienced lawyer who works across Commercial, Copyright, and Entertainment Law, with a focus on the protection and commercialisation of intellectual property rights, contract and licensing negotiations, privacy, confidential information, and consumer law. Dougal also handles disputes in entertainment industries including film, music, and publishing. He holds a PhD in Art History and Theory from the University of Sydney, and prior to his legal career was a curator in Australia, Europe and the U.S., experience which underpins his empathetic yet commercially-minded approach to advising creative clients.
