
Vina Ngo
Vina is a Senior Associate in the Trade Marks team with extensive experience in all aspects of trade mark practice in Australia and New Zealand including trade mark clearance, trade mark prosecution from filing to registration, opposition and removal proceedings, global IP portfolio management and brand protection strategy. She also provides advice on registration of designs and prosecutes design applications in Australia. Vina also assists clients in taking action to protect and enforce their trade mark and design rights, and has represented clients in numerous trade marks-related disputes.
Vina has advised clients across a range of sectors including hospitality, FMCG, veterinary health, automobile manufacturing, technology, financial services and many more. She has been involved in trade mark opposition proceedings at IP Australia and the New Zealand Intellectual Property Office, as well as Federal Court litigation including The a2 Milk Company Limited v Société des Produits Nestlé S.A.
Vina also has substantial experience protecting the brands of leading Australian and international businesses with Australian and New Zealand Customs, and in domain name and illegitimate website disputes.
Vina has a particular interest in non-traditional trademarks such as shape, colour and sound trade marks and has prosecuted a number of non-traditional trade mark applications. Prior to joining Banki Haddock Fiora in 2018, she was a lawyer and paralegal at boutique and leading national commercial law firms.
Vina has published articles in LexisNexis Intellectual Property Law Bulletin, Legal Industry Reviews Australia and Lexology.
Vina is a member of the Intellectual Property Society of Australia and New Zealand and the International Trademark Association.
Vina is fluent in Vietnamese.
